If PSO is your utility

  • PSO's Net Energy Billing Option (NEBO), for producers of 300 kW or less (sheet effective January 2, 2024), requires a time-of-day rate schedule and a signed purchase agreement. Energy produced in excess of what you use in the month is credited, or paid, in dollars in the next billing period(s) at PSO's Avoided Energy Cost, based on Southwest Power Pool day-ahead market prices. • To use NEBO, the system must be 300 kW or less, have its total output metered by a separate production meter per PSO's Customer Interconnection Guide, and be no larger than 125% of your annual peak demand (larger systems may be moved to PSO's QF Standard Purchase Schedule). You submit a completed Interconnection Application to PSO. Source: https://www.psoklahoma.com/lib/docs/ratesandtariffs/Oklahoma/PSO_Tariff_Package_Complete_Sept_2026.pdf (accessed 2026-10-20)
  • Under NEBO, only the kWh portion of your bill is affected; you're still billed the other charges in your time-of-day rate schedule and applicable riders. Source: https://www.psoklahoma.com/lib/docs/ratesandtariffs/Oklahoma/PSO_Tariff_Package_Complete_Sept_2026.pdf (accessed 2026-10-20)

A note on the federal tax credit

The federal residential clean energy credit (25D) doesn't apply to expenditures made after December 31, 2025. The IRS treats an expenditure as made when installation is completed. Questions to ask

  1. Which PSO tariff or rider does your estimate assume, and at what export credit?
  2. How much of my production does your estimate assume I'll use on site versus export?
  3. What happens to my credits if I move or close my account?
